Pentatonix

So we’re just going to abandon all order and organization for this and the proceeding week and I’m gonna throw a video your way on a Friday morning. But so intense was its awesomeity that is needed to be shared! πŸ™‚

Here’s the original song, which is pretty epic on its own:

Somebody That I Used to Know – Gotye

It’s all over the radio at this point so I’m sure you’ve heard it, but still hasn’t had time to get old. πŸ™‚

Anyways, while this is my song of the week contribution to you, I’ve got more to share. The work of one amazing a cappella group called Pentatonix. Apparently they won the third season of yet another generic singing competition called The Sing-Off, but I guess if they’re producing sound like this it might actually be worth checking out.

Here is their cover of the above song (fair warning: it’s pretty mind-blowingly intense πŸ™‚ ). I’ve got mad respect for a cappella-ers, and these guys definitely know what they’re doing. Check it out:

  1. Most of your choices of videos and music have been interesting, Amy.

This time, however. Wow. The Gotye video is visually interesting and the song is great — I’ll probably buy it. But the Pentatonix cover shows really amazing talent.

    Good discovery!
